About Us
Sarasota Pen Women 2020-2021
Cultivating Creativity Since 1957
“Launching Leaders in the Arts” is our primary community outreach, supporting college-bound high school seniors in Manatee and Sarasota County public schools. Our annual student competition in the categories of Letters, Art and Music provides awards from $100 to $2,000. The National League of American Pen Women, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization recognized as tax exempt by the Internal Revenue Service. For further information visit our local website SarasotaPenWomen.com or The National League of American Pen Women at NLAPW.org
The visual artists hold an annual art exhibition at one of the local art centers or galleries, the Letters members have held panel discussions at the Selby Library. Our members have earned awards at the State and National level through competitions and biennial awards.
Every year we hold a panel discussion called “An Artists Journey” where Sarasota Pen Women discuss their creative passion and the process of producing their works in the fields of writing, art and music.
The Pen Woman, our national magazine, published quarterly, out of Washington, D.C., highlights the talents and creative work of our members in more than 80 branches throughout the country.
The organization continues to promote and conduct literary, educational, and charitable activities in the fields of Letters, Art and Music. The mission remains to encourage, recognize and promote the production of creative work of professional standard in the fine arts.
